How this STAR interview tool works

Paste the question, then write the four parts: where you were, what you were asked to do, what you did and what changed. The preview joins them into a spoken answer.

Use an example if you want a starting draft, then replace the company, role and numbers with your own. Copy the text and practise it out loud.

Write Four boxes

A short situation, a clear task, your action, a measurable result.

Check Hear the text

If you cannot say a sentence in one breath, it is too long.

Say Practise once

Copy the answer and say it. Do not read it from a screen in the interview.

Tip: The action has to be yours. “I worked with the team” is not enough if you do not say what you did.

Useful notes

  •   The situation is two sentences. Context, not the company history.
  •   The task is what you were asked to do, not the whole company goal.
  •   Action is the long part. Use first-person verbs.
  •   A result is more believable with a number. If you do not have one, say what changed.
  •   Your draft stays in this browser until you clear it.
