Structure
How it works
A CUI (or CIF) has 2 to 10 digits. The last one is the check digit. The tool strips the RO prefix, left-pads with zeros and uses the weights 7 5 3 2 1 7 5 3 2.
“Valid” only means the number is well formed, not that the company exists at ANAF.
Check
Last digit
If it does not match, the CUI is mistyped.
Format
RO + digits
The RO prefix is optional and ignored in the calculation.
Limit
Math only
We do not query the Trade Register or ANAF.
Important:
Do not send someone else’s CUI to an unknown site. Checks here run only in the browser.
Useful notes
- The sample is made up (123456789). It is not a real company.
- The fiscal CIF uses the same check-digit algorithm as the CUI.
- The validator does not say whether the company is VAT registered.
- Reloading the page clears the field.
